Most everyone wants to be saved. In this song I've clumsily got myself stranded somewhere. It's a jungle of confusion. I may have eaten some poisonous mushrooms in the song's scenario. Help!
in Plato's cave the shadows on the cave walls are all we know of reality, never knowing the true source of the shadows. Some trickster spirit only gives us glimpses of reality through his fire and shadow play. The hope is someone will come in and save us, and show us the true nature of the world. Walk us out the cave opening to at last bear witness to the canopy of the limitless sky. That's the hope.
Sonically, I had a tough time reining this song in to its final form. I had a lot of sibilance in my vocal recording that ruined my vocal takes. I still used them and somehow made them work for me. I have a small Korg synthesizer that I used on this one. In the intro and outro I tried to simulate the sound of a crackling fire with the synthesizer. Did it give you that impression of crackling flames? LIke Plato's cave, the reality of it is not what it seems. Life is but a dream. As this song closes, I feel there is some resolution. Maybe you too will find some resolution in the nooks and crannies of this composition.
